I got this from Shar website.
It is lightweight and sturdy.
I wish they improve on,
1.The bow holder. It should be thinner. They are too wide. It is tricky to place the bow without breaking any hair ( See my picture).
2. The rosin compartment should have been bigger where we can fit shoulder rest too.Everything else is fantastic.

Cecilio CEVN-3BK 4/4 Full Size Electric Silent Solidwood Violin w/ Ebony Fittings in Black Metallic Review

Average Reviews:

Well, to start off...The strings suck, and so does the rosin. I've played the violin a little over seven years now, and this is good for it's price. It has a nice tone for being so lowly priced, but, not the best. When you play, the strings hurt your fingers(or atleast mine) and your fingers get all black from the neck. But all together it is decent.

Kun Collapsible Mini Red Shoulder Rest for 1/16 - 1/4 Violin Review

Kun Collapsible Mini Red Shoulder Rest for 1/16 - 1/4 Violin
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My daughter has been using a sponge shoulder rest for 1 year and recently moved up to 1/4 size violin.
I was hoping to find a shoulder rest that can accommodate 1/4 and 1/2 size so that she can use it for a couple years, but I couldn't find anything decent. So I ended up buying this one because I have a full size (4/4) collapsible one from Kun myself and I am reasonably happey with it.
The design of this one is the same as the full size one. The height of the shoulder rest is adjusted by turning the 2 screws in/out of the base, which is made entirely of plastic. It turns out that even at its maximal height (which is achieved by unscrewing the 2 screws as much as possible before they fall off the base), it is still not enough for my daughter whose neck is considered average or slightly longer than average if I look at kids in her class. I suspect many kids who try to use this with 1/4 violin may face similar problem. We end up wrapping a piece of cloth around the foam and still use it. The real problem is that when you have to use it at its maximal height, you have 2 metal screws into a plastic base in the minimal number of turns (to achieve the maximal height). Under this condition, a lot of stress is applied to the threads (out of the plastic base) which is going to wear out very soon. So the durability is questionable. In contrast, the full size one that I use have very long screws. So at least 1/3 of the screws are seated in the base, which reduces the wear of individual threads. I guess Kun can't use really long screws for this miniature model because the plastic pieces where the screws seat are much smaller than those in the full size one. That is the fundamental limit of the design when you try to make a shoulder rest to accommodate a wide range of violin sizes and kids with different neck length.
The bottom line: if you are buying this for 1/16 to 1/8 size of violin, it should be fine.
If it's for 1/4 and your kid has an average or long neck, you might want to consider the original Kun that is not collapsible but designed to accommodate 1/8 to 1/4 size violin.
If you intend to buy it and use it for a few years, I am not sure it will last.

Mendini MV-Purple Solid Wood Purple Violin + Hard Case, Shoulder Rest, Bow, Rosin & Strings in Size 1/2 Review

Mendini MV-Purple Solid Wood Purple Violin + Hard Case, Shoulder Rest, Bow, Rosin and Strings in Size 1/2
Average Reviews:

I bought this blue 1/2 size violin for my 9 year old daughter as she out grew her 1/4 size violin (pink colored one). Once again was not disappointed with the Cecilio product. I could have bought a regular wood finished violin at a higher cost, but figured that she'll only use this one for a year before moving up to the next size violin and may as well keep it fun for her as she is the only one in her orchestra with a non standard wood finished violin and she love to play this instrument. Once again, remarkably for the price (about $50)this instrument has pretty decent tone. What keeps me from giving this a 5 star rating is that it was a bit of a chore setting up the bridge initially. But after getting it tuned for the first time, then the fine tuning by her violin teacher, it really has decent tone. My daughter has been playing the violin for just over a year, and we figured since she will use the instrument her old pink violin and now the blue one for maybe a year each, these color violins help keep practice fun for her and is a conversation piece with her friends and classmates. The case is a standard case for inexpensive violins, the shoulder rest that came with outfit is cheap and not really usable. But where it counts is the sound and playability of the violin where it is petty decent for the price.

Korg CM-100L Clip On Contact Microphone For Tuners Review

Korg CM-100L Clip On Contact Microphone For Tuners
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have recently decided to attempt to tune my own piano, so I did some research and found out that the Korg CM-100 Tuner Clip was a necessity. No matter where I attach the tuner clip on my piano it picks up a clear signal and sends it to my Korg Chromatic Tuner. This product has made it very easy to tune my piano now and I never have to hire out to a professional again. The Korg CM-100 Tuner Clip along with the Korg Chromatic Tuner is a perfect combination to tune any instrument. As a music teacher, I highly recommend it.

The CM-100L Contact Microphone is a perfect compliment to any tuner that offers an audio input jack. The mic can be positioned to get a more sensitive measurement, while allowing the tuner to be positioned for easier reading.

The clip style mic is ideally suited for clipping on to the body of an instrument to pick up the tuning note directly with minimal interference from ambient sound. It can be easily clipped on to the bell of a trumpet or the headstock of a guitar, for example.
Tuning via microphone can be convenient for accurate tuning in noisy environments, and the CM-100L also lets you access Korg's Sound Back mode (available on some models), which produces a reference tone closest to the input pitch you play on your instrument.
The CM-100L jack is a 1/4-inch male phone connector.

I ordered this and when it arrived I found it is waaaaay to big to hold a violin. When I set my instrument on it, my violin teeters and with any slight breeze it would just fall off. If it didn't cost more in shipping to return it than the holder itself I would send it back. Not cool.

Protective Bowing C-Clip for Full-Size Violin Review

Protective Bowing C-Clip for Full-Size Violin
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My young sons play violin and viola. Prior to graduating to a full-size, my violinist son's 3/4 size violin had a nasty and ugly gouges all over the C, wounds received from his bow. When we recently purchased a beautiful full-size violin that is 204 years old, I luckily ran into Hilary Hahn's holiday gift recommendation in Strings magazine where she mentioned this product. It seemed a perfect solution to protecting the new violin -- and so it turned out upon receiving it yesterday! But there was no mention anywhere of the product for viola, so I was curious how the C-Clip for full-size violin would fit my other son's 14" viola. It wasn't as perfect a fit for the viola as it did the violin but approximate enough to be quite effective, so I quickly ordered the last one in stock!
My viola son is graduating to a 15" viola over this Christmas season, and I'll update on how it fits the 15" size.

D'Addario Prelude 4/4 Violin String Set Medium Gauge Review

D'Addario Prelude 4/4 Violin String Set Medium Gauge
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got my undergraduate degree in violin performance and have a daughter who plays the violin.
This is a great string for violins that are 1/2 size and smaller. The Dominant strings sounded muted and dull on my daughter's 1/16 size violin. The didn't respond quickly to the bow. Dominant is a great string for a 3/4 or full size violin beginner up to intermediate player. That is why I purchased them for the 1/16 sized violin. I talked to my daughter's teacher and he suggested the d'addario Prelude and I have been very happy with them. They are bright, clear, and respond well to the bow. They are not scratchy at all. A great string for smaller violins. By the way, beginners need a decent instrument or no string will sound good. You've got to pay $250 or more or rent a quality instrument.

CodaBow Diamond GX Carbon Fiber 4/4 Violin Bow Review

CodaBow Diamond GX Carbon Fiber 4/4 Violin Bow
Average Reviews:

I have been playing with a Codabow Classic for six years and thought I would try out a Diamond GX. For those of you wondering if there is a significant difference, I can say unequivically that there is. The Diamond GX is lighter in the hand with improved control, smoother tone generation with the ability to sense the vibration of the strings and adjust tone on the fly. It offers increased precision and more dexterity. All in all, you can definately hear and feel the difference. I don't own any wooden bows so I can't say as to that comparison. I play Old Time Fiddle and Celtic, but not classical. CodaBow Diamond GX Carbon Fiber 4/4 Violin Bow

I have been playing the violin for many years now. I had a KUN shoulder rest, but it was really old. So I thought about getting a new one, and that is exactly what I did. This is a better shoulder rest, at least for me. However, I did not notice that it is not collapsible. Next time I order one I will pay more attention to that. However, I really liked it, and I do recommend it to any violin player.

How anyone could expect a violin, bow, and case from this ad escapes me.
I am reviewing my experience with SKB as a manufacturer of cases for equipment. It's pretty beefy. I would trust them to protect my daughter's violin but would like to see some numbers. If they had said it withstood x pounds in a crush test i would give them the fivestars.

Glasser Fiberglass Bow with Horsehair (3/4 Violin) Review

Glasser Fiberglass Bow with Horsehair (3/4 Violin)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This came in good shape, took the rosin well, and sounds and feels responsive. But it's too big around; the stick is a large diameter, and it has a rubberized wrap that adds even more to the diameter (I would have much preferred a wire wrapping as most bows have). This was for the kids, a 3/4 size, and the grip size is just too big for their hands. It feels larger than my 4/4 regular bow. I'll keep it as a backup bow for our 3/4 fiddle, since I can use it OK, but I'm going to get a traditional brazilwood bow for the kids.
