(More customer reviews)First I have to admit that I do not know much about violins, and was apprehensive of buying one online without hearing the sound or really knowing what it would be like. Something told me NOT to buy on line but when I saw this [..]violin selling for [...]it grabbed my attention. My history of purchasing things through Amazon has been really great and so went ahead and got this for a friend, who was learning the violin with her [...]. She was very happy to receive it, and like me did not know much about it. She did say that she received it without it being strung and that she had asked her son's teacher if he could string it for her, and he explained that normally he could, but that it came with a bridget that was not prepared to be strung. So, she had to bring it to a violin shop. Since the violin shop is over an hour away, she was not able to do this in the time alloted to return the merchandise. After she talked to the people at the violin shop, she had to make over $100 in repairs to the violin in order for it to be used. The strings that came with the violin were not able to be used, there was a problem with something inside the violin (remember I am not a violin player). I was hoping that she would receive this violin and be ready to play with her son, however, it has been about a month since I purchased it and it will be early May before she will get it back to play. When I read the reviews on this product, there was only one review and to say the least it was confusing. I take some blame for not being happy with this purchase, and have learned that musical instruments are probably better to be bought from a live person who has some knowledge in the product; not just take an advertisers word as to the worth of something. The reviews with this company ranged from terrible to great and so it was hard to decide to buy or not to buy. I guess once the repairs are made my friend will have a violin to play with her son. But I won't be buying an instrument on line again.
